Canvas Water Bucket

$30.00

Made of heavy off white cotton canvas. The buckets are about 9" in diameter, approximately 11" tall, and hold about 3 gallons. A piece of wood is sewn into the canvas handle to make carrying more comfortable.  These buckets are intended for transporting--not storing--water and as such they may leak slowly.  Water may bead up on the outside.  As the fabric becomes saturated and swollen the leaking should slow.  They fold up nicely to about 1-1/2" thick for storage.  Imported from India

This is a handy water transporter around camp like they say not for storing water although I haven't seen mine leak or seep at all. I haven't used mine that much but with care and waterproofing I expect it will give long and satisfactory service.

good for any period

I bought 2 of these for rev war re-enacting but they also do just as well for WW1. Flat canvass buckets they are light and fold up easily for carrying water from a pump or water buffalo to a kitchen area.

The only down side is that they are NOT waterproof. It will seep through the canvass sides and if you set it down, the ground underneath will get wet. It's not streaming out but it is seeping.

I suspect if it was inconstant use the constantly wet fibres would close up, but for just a weekend of three days? It doesn't get enough use to prove that.

so these are great for transporting water but just understand you'll need a tub or somewhere to pour it into or you will have some mud under foot.
