1740-1800 Reproduction Glasses Frames (Shorter Temple)

$40.00

Please note this is a slightly shorter temple style than what we have previously carried.

These high quality glasses accurately replicate historical examples from the mid to late 18th century. Their one-piece temples are shorter than those on the later styles we carry, and usually end at the temple rather than extend to the ear. Clear sample lenses are included in the round 1-3/16" openings, ready to have your prescription installed by your local optometrist (let us know in the comments and we will loosen the screws) or they are available with 2X lenses. The nose bridge on this style is slightly wider than on our Late 18th century hinged glasses.

Dimensions:

Width:  4 3/4"

Length:  5"

Nose Piece:  1 1/4"

Center to Center:  2.5"

Lens:  1 3/16"

Bevel: Hide-a-bevel/V bevel. There is a safety bevel on the backside of the magnified lens.

Bring back the old style please

The temples are now too short to the point they fall off my head and the lenses are no longer 30mm

Worth the wait!

I have been waiting endlessly for these frames to come back in stock. I wanted a pair that included the readers and they have been absent on this site for quite some time. I was looking for frames with the shorter temples since I enjoying reading in bed with my head propped up by a pillow. The fames fit me perfectly with the shorter temples allowing me read in bed without the fames being disturbed and pushed off of my face when lying down. The fames also came with a clear lens in case you ever want to use them without the need for magnification. They also look great sitting bedside in my period correct home. Thanks for bringing them back...

Temples too short.

I purchased the longer temple frames several years ago and they were very comfortable. As a museum interpreter, I wore them for many hours a day and enjoyed wearing them. Recently, I needed to update my lens prescription, and my company ordered the new frames with the shorter temple. The new frames are horrible and are PAINFUL around the ears to wear. At the end of a day's work I can't wait to get them off. My optometrist tried many times to adjust them (progressive lenses) so I can see properly. However, the frames don't fit correctly around my ears and cause considerable pain.
PLEASE bring back the frames with the longer temples, or at least have the option to order the shorter or longer temples.
