Many old lanterns were made like this with a pierced tin top to let in air and keep out wind. Like our other styles this is copied closely from an original. The smaller panes of glass date it to the 18th century when glass was scarce and mica sheets or panes of cow horn might have been used instead. It is equip with a metal candle pan and a leather strap handle. 11" tall. The leather handle will vary in color from light brown to black. If you are partial to one, please leave a note or call, and if we have it, we will send the requested color.

Beautiful lantern

Bought this just before price increase, but even with that well worth it . Simply beautiful construction, and do order some extra Beeswax candles. Amazing. Will not be disappointed.

Great Lantern

I received my lantern yesterday and it is just great! I plan on getting the horn plates for it and using this at our local Ren Fair where I do leather demos into the evening and it gets a little hard to see the stitching marks. Thank you for making such outstanding products.

This is terrific

This is terrific. Well made. We also ordered the cow horn panes to replace the glass - it looks great and authentic. Very happy!
