Medium Pierced Tin Lanterns

$90.00

Lightweight with no glass to break this classic design is well suited for primitive camping. Made in the USA of bright tinplate. Just like the originals they will mellow with age.  These are about 14" high by about 4 3/4" in diameter.  We recommend a maximum candle height of about six inches. Our Beeswax Candles are sold separately as item numbers BC-12 (each) or BC-19 (Dozen Candle Bundle).

Most basic of colonial lanterns

This is the most basic colonial lantern you can find. Period correct it can take a lot of abuse. I would say be prepared to wrap something around the handle if you’re carrying it around because the heat of the flame will warm it to an uncomfortable level but that is true for more up market lanterns as well.

The big plus of this lantern is also its biggest failure. It doesn’t have a glass panel. On the plus side this means nothing to break. Nothing to be careful about. The problem though is if using the lantern ‘open’ to get the full lighting effect of the candlelight being reflected by the tin inside, you run the risk of it being blown out.

Still for your display or rough camping it is a great piece to have around and in the rough and tumble of the march you don’t have to worry about anything breaking in you pack
