This week I cooked pinto beans in my pot (not my favorite bean I usually use Great Northern or Navy bean) . I brushed the outer rim of the lid and also of the pot (where the lid sets) with lard which kept it from sticking when the liquid seeped out during the long bake time. Lid not only lifted off safely, it also cleaned up easily.
Love Townsends and have purchased several items over the years. Thank you John!
We made Townsends maple baked beans in this pot (but we used pinto beans), and had it on the side with steak grilled on our Townsends double brazier. This pot worked very well and is beautifully crafted (so is the double brazier!). We have a lot of respect for the care and workmanship that Townsends shares with everyone. This company is about integrity and authenticity, and it shows in their products. Thank you to John and the entire crew!
A true thing of beauty and rustic class, four stars for the base of the handle doesn't look secure. Even if no Handle you can still use it.
Great product from Towsends.
I am so glad to be able to support Townsends! And this pot was perfect for the baked beans! I love history, and Jas really gives a great insight to earlier times! I made the cob oven and love that also!! Thanks Jas!! Dan, in upstate New York.
I've used my bean pot for several years now and wouldn't trade it for anything! Wonderful craftsmanship and its beautiful to look at.
