If this jacket is made in royal blue it is a custom item. Once custom items have been paid for and are on order the measurements and details cannot be changed, the item cannot be canceled, and the item cannot be returned unless there is a defect.
This means that if the garment does not fit you we would not be able to accept it as a return or exchange, for this reason we do not recommend getting a customization for a garment unless you have already tried on the standard size or version.

My new jacket, in Royal Blue, just arrived today and is amazing! The color looks great with my new sailor's costume that I am putting together. This is now my third short jacket from Townsends, and all of them have been great quality. I have ordered two with extended length to the sleeves and torso, and the sewing team and customer service went above and beyond to make sure that it was what I needed and that I got it in time! Thanks so much to everyone at Townsends for another great jacket!
I ordered one of these jackets in red to make a British infantry short jacket, and customer service was extremely helpful! Other than hats, this is my first clothing item to order from Townsends, and customer service went the extra mile to help me get it to fit me, as I am fairly tall. Thanks Townsends for an excellent product!
I ALWAYS order extra large shirts, jackets and coats but I followed the measuring instructions and it indicated I needed a large (45" chest) so I ordered it fully intending to send it back as I ASSUMED it would be to small.
Perfect fit! The wife even said it looked sharp on me (after being married this long that doesn't happen often!).
My advice, follow the measuring instructions and order this very well fitting jacket.
I got my short jacket in Navy Blue for Fathers Day in 2008. Using some Townsend wool I added welt pockets, and Mariners cuffs. I then lined the body in more wool, with a Psalm book pocket and lined the sleeves in cotton. This coat has been my constant companion and in constant use aboard Tall Ships, and sailing and rowing our own boats. I wore it yesterday while rowing the Napa River. I’ve finally had to patch the elbows, and the cuffs are thread bare. It has proven to be a cozy and dependable garment, and many have asked where I got it.
This is a very well made jacket that will last for a very long time if properly maintained. The fit and trim are very clean, and the buttons are fantastic. I suggest taking the time to measure yourself per townsends instructions prior to ordering this item. My size was slightly different than what I had expected going by their instructions. However, Townsends measuring instructions resulted in a properly fitting garment that I am very pleased with.
